Supporters of George Sweet, a Republican candidate for the U.S House of Representatives, will hold a fund-raiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 on the grounds of Town Point, an 1895 Victorian estate manor at the foot of the Godwin Bridge on U.S. Route 17.
The event will be catered by Chick-Fil-A, and music and children's activities will provide entertainment. The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
U.S. Senate Republican nominee Oliver North will be on hand from 6 to 7 p.m.
Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served at a reception for Sweet from 7 to 9 p.m. at Nix's Club House, offshore in the Nansemond River west of the Godwin Bridge.
A boat will take guests to the club house from Town Point. Reservations are required, due to limited space. The cost is $100 per person, and checks may be made payable to Sweet for Congress, P.O. Box 1846, Chesapeake, Va. 23327.
