Allen Iverson continued to flash his old skills in his return to organized basketball Saturday, as he scored 33 points to lead his team to the final of a Washington, D.C. summer league tournament.
Iverson's team, the Tombs, rolled to a 104-90 victory over Nike Air in the Kenner League semifinals in front of a standing-room only crowd at Georgetown University's McDonough Gymnasium.
The game was Iverson's second since being convicted last summer of three felony counts of maiming by mob. Thursday, Iverson scored a game-high 40 points in the Tombs' victory over Mike Digby.
Saturday, however, Iverson had to share the spotlight with 6-9 forward and Georgetown-bound Jerome Williams, a junior-college transfer who led all scorers with 37.
Six of the 12 members of the Tombs, including Iverson, have signed with the Hoyas. Iverson's enrollment at Georgetown is contingent upon his finishing high school, which, according to a Georgetown spokesman, he has yet to do.
The Tombs (11-1) will play in the tournament final tonight at 7. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
