THE BIBLE AND THE CONSTITUTION DO MIX

John Steinson Jr.'s definition of the religious right (letter, July 23) is a biased and warped opinion of one who is contentious with righteousness. Contrary to his view, the Word of God and our Constitution are totally harmonious.

The most important thread running throughout our Constitution is that its designers ensured those who would enter this nation from other lands in years to come would be able to bask in its freedom. Never did it enter their minds that it would be open to athiests, agnostics or those worshiping idols to attempt to destroy the specific integrity of our Constitution.

It is war against God for men to deny prayer and Bibles in our public schools. It is our God-directed responsibility to teach all men about him. Judiastic-Christian living that instills godly convictions such as honesty, moral uprightness, sanctity of marriage and living among ourselves without lying, cheating, stealing and murdering are obviously outdated virtues by Mr. Steinson's standards. What Mr. Steinson doesn't understand, along with many others who are against the religious right, is that when people practice righteousness, all live under a canopy of peace and safety. When it is denied and destroyed, one is subjected to total depravity, with the results we are experiencing this very hour.
