GEORGE A. HASSETT

George Abe Hassett, 80, of the 200 block of Robinhood Road, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 1994, in Franklin.

Mr. Hassett was a native of Waynesboro, Va. He was one of the founders and owners of Hassett's, a family business in Franklin, in which he was active for more than 50 years. He was a member of Gomley Chesed Synagogue and was past president of the Franklin Kiwanis Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis Hassett and Yetta Hassett and a brother, Sam.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy S. Hassett; a daughter, Ellen of Virginia Beach; three sons, Rob and Lewis, both of Atlanta, Ga. and Bruce of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Harry and Jay, both of Franklin; and four grandchildren, Laura, Elizabeth, Joe and Jessica.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Gomley Chesed Cemetery by Rabbi Phillip S. Krohn. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
