James Veto Nix, age 70, of Maple, N.C., died at N.C. Special Care Center, Wilson, N.C., on Saturday, Aug. 6, 1994. Born in Alabama, he was a retired longshoreman, refrigeration mechanic and a Baptist. Mr. Nix was also a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Mr. Nix was the son of the late Rufus Jackson and Annie Sue Waldrip Nix and the husband of Elsie Roberts Nix of the home. Besides his wife, Mr. Nix is survived by a son, Jules V. Nix of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Earline Watson and Pauline Allen, both of Leighton, Ala.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Church Street, Elizabeth City, on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 1994, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Snowden Cemetery, Maple, N.C. A visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 8, 1994, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Church Street, Elizabeth City.
