I concur with William M. Camp Jr. (Another View, Aug. 4) that the Virginia Beach City Council, in its quest for the tourist dollar and the evident need to continue unlimited population growth, continues to plague residents with water restrictions and rising costs.
I have lived in the Great Neck area for 37 years and have seen wells go dry due to golf course maintenance and unlimited growth. I further see plans for six more golf courses, the race for more water-consuming enterprises and unlimited water consumption by the tourist trade.
When will our elected leaders realize that at our current rate, we will soon be reduced to ``water hours'' and strict rationing?
Let's try to lock the stable while we still have a portion of the horse.
