William Russell Shepherd Sr., 78, of the 1100 block of Montague St., died Aug. 7, 1994, in a local hospital.
Mr. Shepherd, a native of Norfolk, was retired from E. Caligari and Son with over 40 years of service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Norfolk and Moose Lodge No. 39.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Rena Scalco Shepherd; a daughter, Nancy Susan Shepherd Hunt of Norfolk; a son, William R. Shepherd Jr. of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Theda Jones of Houston, Katherine Howard of New Bern, N.C., and Mildred Hackney of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Aubrey Schmit of Chesapeake; and five grandchildren, Travis R. Hunt, Jon R. Hunt, Russell F. Hunt, William R. Shepherd III and Elizabeth Lynn Shepherd.
The family will greet friends in Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Louis Ruoff. A prayer service will be held in the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, prior to procession to and burial in Rosewood Memorial Park. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Plaza Station of the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
