Elmer Kirtland Ward, 88, of the 2800 block of Forehand Drive, a retired farmer, died Aug. 8, 1994, in Chesapeake.
Mr. Ward, a native of Suffolk, was the son of the late Hattie Brown Ward and James C. Ward. He was the widower of Georgie Belle Ward and was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church in the Driver section of Suffolk.
Survivors include a brother, Algie B. Ward of Chesapeake; six nieces, Shirley VanVoorhis, Margaret Gaskins, Rosalie Hoblit, Mary Ward, Carolyn Fronfelter and June Hudson; and two nephews, Charles Ward and Algie Ward Jr.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
