Margaret V. Hanbury Sawyer, 77, of the 900 block of Josephine Crescent, a retired bookkeeper, died Aug. 7, 1994, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Sawyer was born in Portsmouth and was retired from Carr Construction Co. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, the Loyal Builder's Sunday School Class, Dana Tyson Circle, UMW, and Daughters of the Confederacy, Cape Henry Chapter.
Survivors include her husband, George Thomas Sawyer; one son, George T. Sawyer Jr. of Beaufort, N.C.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. Sawyer.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Joseph Carson. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital in memory of her son, Robert W. Sawyer, or to a charity of choice.
