HOWARD L. HILL

Howard L. Hill, 82, a resident of Boykins, died Monday, Aug. 8, 1994, at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

Mr. Hill was a native of Lodi, Va. He was a member of Boykins United Methodist Church, a past member of the Boykins Lions Club, past president of the Branchville Ruritan Club and member of the Eat and Meet Club in Boykins. He was a member of Boykins Masonic Lodge (NU)287 and a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Khedive Shriners Temple in Norfolk. He was also a former town council member in Boykins. He retired as a yard conductor after 34 years of service with the Seaboard Coastline Railroad. He attended Emory and Henry College.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia B. Hill; three daughters, Harriett Sue Seng of Chesapeake, Alice H. Hughes of Hickory, N.C., Amy H. Leinart of Windsor; three sisters; three brothers; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Boykins United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Gochenour and the Rev. J. Blaine Blubaugh. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends at 32082 Elizabeth St. in Boykins from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Purviance Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Boykins United Methodist Church Building Fund.
