Wayland H. ``Doc'' Wilfore, 70, of the 600 block of Sparrow Road, died Aug. 8, 1994, in Chesapeake.
Mr. Wilfore was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., and was retired from the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman after 21 years. He was also retired as deputy comptroller, Navy Regional Medical Center. He was a member of St. Brides Episcopal Church, where he was former senior warden; past president of District 8 Little League; and former member of the Chesapeake Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Amelia Arnold Wilfore; two daughters, Constance ``Connie'' Withers of Chesapeake and Patricia ``Pattie'' Bowen of Williamsburg, Va.; three sons, Nelson ``Skip'' Wilfore of Ada, Mich., Titus ``Buddy'' Wilfore of Atlanta and Victor ``Vic'' Wilfore of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren, Marian Withers, Michelle Withers, Christy Wilfore, Hunter Wilfore, Christopher Wilfore, Cassie Wilfore and Joshua Bowen; sons-in-law, Michael Withers and Kenneth Bowen; daughters-in-law, Candy Wilfore, Patty Wilfore and D.J. Wilfore; sisters-in-law, Esther Clements and Genene Arnold; and brother-in-law, Sonny Arnold.
A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Brides Episcopal Church by Father Michael J. Godderz and the Rev. Paul Moore. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
