Goals: ``We want to look at academic excellence, to maximize the potential of each student. We want to maintain an environment (for that), that's dealing with discipline problems. We need to have parental support and input to the fullest extent possible.''

Obstacles: ``I think it's in being able to overcome those ills in our society that somehow manifest themselves in our schools, the problem of violence and weapons possession, students not being able to cope with conflicts without turning to violence.''

Proudest accomplishment as an educator: ``I think it's in being able to see your successes through students who have gone before in your classes, to realize that it's more than just policy and procedures, more than just programs and activities, but that it is a very real impact we make on the lives of our youngsters. When we can affirm that it is a very positive impact, it is indeed a great experience.''

Hobbies: Reading, spectator sports, learning to play golf, performance arts (especially student productions).

Book you'd recommend: ``Fatherhood,'' by Bill Cosby. ``It speaks a lot about some of the things it takes to be a father, but it gives insight into the good that comes from giving.'' ILLUSTRATION: Photo
