Claire E. Medlin (letter, July 21) recited the good things that Sen. Charles Robb has supported, not mentioning his socialist leanings.
He voted to allow anyone to desecrate our flag, to allow gays in the military and for the Civil Rights Act of 1990, which was no more than a quota system, while allowing Congress to be immune to it and other laws that his constituents must obey. He voted for the nation's largest tax increase in history.
Mr. Robb voted against a proposal by Sen. Jesse Helms of North Carolina to cut off federal funds to any school district teaching acceptance of homosexuality as a positive lifestyle. It passed in the Senate, 63-36.
Supported by the president, Robb votes about 90 percent of the time in favor of Clinton's socialist desires.
The socialist Democrats are dismantling our military by leaps and bounds and increasing spending on welfare and social programs.
Oliver North is the only hope for Virginians to help change the status quo in the U.S. Senate. He is not beholden to any special-interest group other than the constituency of Virginians.
North has raised more than $9 million dollars for his campaign, primarily from grass-roots people - productive people who have been shafted by the likes of Chuck Robb and his Democrat colleagues for the past 40 years.
It's time we stopped the socialist sham and elect someone who will make a change in the U.S. Senate for the betterment of the productive people of this country. Our vote is for Oliver North.
