Raleigh Carey Jr., 37, of the 1600 block of County St., a laborer, died Aug. 8, 1994, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mr. Carey was the son of the late Jenny H. and Raleigh Carey Sr. He was a member of Mount Olive Holiness Church, USA, in Portsmouth and the Choir and Male Quartet. He was employed with Cooper Material Co.
Survivors include his wife, Doris T. Carey; a daughter, Chvonne M. Richardson of Portsmouth; a sister, Annie Sue Spencer of Portsmouth; three grandchildren; two aunts, Mazie Broadneux of Franklin, Va., Mable Hart of Norfolk; three uncles, Clarence Hart and Robert Hart of Franklin and Herman Carey of Portsmouth; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mount Olive Holiness Church, USA, by the Rev. John W. Smith. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Serenity Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The family will receive friends at 1526 Green St., Portsmouth, where they will assemble at 10:15 a.m. Saturday for the processional to the church.
