BISHOP DAVID P. MCPHERSON

Bishop David Preston McPherson of the 300 block of Malibu Drive, a retired bishop, died July 31, 1994, in Lynn Shores Nursing Home.

He was born in Norton, Va. He was a member of Gospel Light Church of Christ Holiness, Norfolk, chairman of the Board of Bishops, Board of Claimant and former pastor of First Church of Christ Holiness, USA.

Survivors include his wife, Iris Lee McPherson; three daughters, Ruth E. McPherson and Jean McPherson, both of St. Louis, Mo., and Sharon Bamba of New York City; five sons, David P. McPherson Jr. of Laurel, Md., Robert McPherson Sr., the Rev. James McPherson, Pastor Clarence McPherson and the Rev. Harold McPherson, all of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mary McIntosh of Muskegon, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Church of Christ Holiness, USA, Norfolk, by the Rev. Clarence McPherson. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A wake will be at the church from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. The family will assemble at 3108 Vanderpool Court, Virginia Beach, for the processional at noon. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
