Maxine B. ``Mac'' Stancil, 72, of the 100 block of Gregg St., a retired custodial worker, died Aug. 7, 1994, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Stancil was born in Creswell, N.C., and was retired from the Chesapeake School System after 32 years. She was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church, past president of the Senior Usher Board and active member of the Pastor's Aide Society, Senior Choir and Missionary Board.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charles O. Stancil; son-in-law, George Brown of Norfolk; god-daughter, Angie Hairston of Chesapeake; god-granddaughter, Sheila Lewis; two stepdaughters, Senora Chapman and Celestine Stancil, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; aunt, Flonzora Carroll of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Brown.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Little Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Stanley D. Sheppard. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will assemble at noon at 113 Gregg St., Chesapeake, on Saturday. Pretlow & Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
