Inflation remained under control in July as consumer prices rose moderately, led by a surge in gasoline prices. The Labor Department said its Consumer Price Index rose 0.3 percent in July - the same as in June - primarily because higher gasoline costs pushed energy prices into their steepest climb in 10 months. While the index now has risen six straight months, it is up just 2.7 percent at an annual rate for 1994 - exactly the same as the pace for all of last year. (Associated Press) by CNB
