LESSIE Y. STRICKLAND

Lessie Yvonne ``Sis'' Strickland, 55, of the 2900 block of Bunch Walnuts Road, died Friday, Aug. 12, 1994, in her home.

Mrs. Strickland was the daughter of the late John B. and Lessie B. Mathias. She was employed by Teeuwens Greenhouse and was a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, Charles J. Strickland; two daughters, Patricia Culpeper Spence of Chesapeake, Geneva Marie Copp of Virginia Beach; three sons, Eugene Wilson Culpeper of Elizabeth City, C. Wayne Strickland and William Gerald Strickland, both of Chesapeake; three brothers, Dick Mathias, Linwood B. Mathias and Albert Mathias, all of Chesapeake; and eight grandchildren.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, with the Rev. Charles Moseley officiating. Burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of the son, Wayne. Memorial donations may be made to the family in memory of Mrs. Strickland.
