U.S. Rep. Martin Lancaster, D-3rd District, voted with a majority of 225 to 210 to send the the Clinton administration's anti-crime bill back to the House Rules Committee on Thursday.
Lancaster, who has scheduled a seminar on crime legislation at East Carolina University Aug. 20, said he has supported most of the provisions of the bill, but voted against sending the legislation to the House floor ``because I think we should have the opportunity to amend the bill to remove objectionable provisions.''
``On balance, I believe the people of the 3rd District are more concerned about crime that about any other issue, and I hope the rules committee comes back with a rule which will allow us to come up with a bill that I can vote for.'' by CNB
