Your report, ``The dark allure of smoking'' (Aug. 7), shows pictures of Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis, Steve McQueen, Lauren Bacall and John Wayne, all looking very sexy (we used to think) smoking cigarettes. Newscaster Edward R. Murrow was mentioned in the article also.
Humphrey Bogart, Steve McQueen, Edward R. Murrow and John Wayne all died of lung cancer.
