3 p.m. - Southampton High School, Courtland.
Bill Wright, principal, tells the telephone caller that he is doing great.
``When you live in Southampton County and work at the high school, what more can you ask for, besides heaven?'' he says.
Wright is overseeing summer school from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. five days a week and getting ready for regular classes to resume in September. He obviously enjoys his job.
``The first day it's not fun, I'm not coming back,'' he says.

10 a.m. - on a Suffolk farm.
The photographer finishes up shooting kids and sheep, kids and cattle and kids and hogs.
It's been a hard day already.
The steer wouldn't come to the photographer so the photographer had to go to the steer.
That meant climbing several fences.
The photographer is on the high side of 50.
The sheep and the hogs wouldn't look at the camera and they look about the same from behind, except the sheep are fuzzier. Only photographing children could be more difficult.
So the young girl says, ``I have an orphaned calf. Want to feed it?''
``I'm in a bit of a hurry,'' the photographer says. There are yet more pictures to take. Arts and crafts stuff - in another city
``Well, it won't take long,'' the girl says. ``Just try it and before long, you will be eating out of her hand.''
- Carole O'Keeffe SATURDAY, AUG. 6
12:20 p.m. - Farm Fresh, Suffolk.
The woman hands the cashier a check for her groceries.
``I know you're going to think I'm crazy,'' she says. ``I wrote it for 25 cents more because I need to make a phone call.''
A customer in line behind her says she hopes the woman gets through on the first try and doesn't need to make a second call.
The cashier takes the check and hands the woman a quarter.
``It costs $1.79 on my calling card to call from here to Whaleyville,'' she says. ``It only costs 25 cents if you put the money in the phone.''
- Susie Stoughton WEDNESDAY, AUG. 10
1:30 p.m. - Saratoga Street.
It's not like the traffic signal was difficult to see, but for some reason the car at the front of the line, waiting to turn right, refused to move, despite nearly a full minute of glowing green.
The drivers behind the first car were getting impatient.
Suddenly, a man darted from the side of the road, opened the door of the driver's side, hopped in and sped away.
Oh.
That's why it wasn't moving.
