John Dix ``Jack'' Pillsbury, 86, died August 12, 1994, in Mary Immaculate Hospital.
He was a native of Providence, R.I., and had been a resident of Williamsburg Landing since 1985. He had formerly resided in Pungo and Virginia Beach.
He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1963 after 21 years of service where he served as a public information officer for the 5th Naval District, Norfolk. He was also a veteran of World War II.
He was a graduate of Dartmouth College, Class of '29. He served as director of the International Azalea Festival for several years for the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Norfolk Sports Club.
He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Themides of Virginia Beach; one son, Joel H. Pillsbury of Utica, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Williamsburg Landing by the Rev. Stephen Wiley of Grace Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Hampton National Cemetery, Hampton.
