FRED D. HARRIS

Fred D. Harris, 83, of the 300 block of Avondale Road, a retired sandblaster, died August 12, 1994, in his home.

He was a native of Creswell, N.C., and was the widower of Estelle Harris. He had worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 31 years.

He is survived by five daughters, Stella Campbell of Humboldt, Tenn., Betty Tompkins, Christine Featherstone, Gloria White, and Ethel Goodrich, all of Portsmouth; two sons, Ruben Harris of Portsmouth, and Fred T. Harris of Chesapeake; one brother, George Harris of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Corprew Funeral Home by Brother Samuel L. Pierce. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing will be at Corprew Funeral Home at noon today. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. today. The family will also be available at 715 Bold Street, Portsmouth, and 1317 South Carrington Crescent, Portsmouth, and will assemble at 322 Avondale Road, Portsmouth, for the funeral service.
