Burglars interviewed in prison say that a barking dog is a good

reason for them not to break into a home.

Many people believe that it takes a junk yard dog to keep a burglar

out but, in fact, any dog that will bark at strangers may discourage

a burglar.

One working woman in Newark, N.J., has a tape recorded barking dog

message that goes off whenever anyone pushes her doorbell, to make

unwanted callers believe she's got a bulldog waiting inside.

P.S. If you have a ``doggy door,'' make sure it isn't also the way

in for a burglar.
