BOY DROWNS AT PARTY: A 4-year-old boy drowned Sunday while attending a pool party for a group of Little League all-stars.
Alex Lecznar, of the 3000 block of Ole Towne Lane in Virginia Beach, was swimming in the shallow end of a backyard swimming pool when he wandered into the deep end and went under, police said.
Rescue workers arrived at the party in the 600 block of Presidential Court just after 5 p.m. and took Lecznar to Virginia Beach General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m.
Police said the child's parents also were at the party, which was being held for the Plaza Little League all-stars. An investigation into the drowning is continuing, but police said they consider it an accident.
