SAMUEL F. DILL JR.

Samuel Frank Dill Jr., 68, of Moores Point Road, a retired sales manager, died Aug. 14, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A native of Great Bridge, he was a graduate of Great Bridge High School. Mr. Dill was a member of West End United Methodist Church in Portsmouth for 45 years, held various positions in the church and was past president of the Dean Cornelius Sunday School Class. He was a former member of Oak Grove Methodist Church and the Fellowship Class. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served at various locations and in the India, China and Burma combat theaters. After the war he was employed for several years by the Norfolk District of the Corps of Engineers.

Following his marriage to Lou Dickinson, he moved to Portsmouth, where he was affiliated with Sears, Roebuck & Co. and other organizations involved in supporting the building industry. He retired as a sales manager.

He was the son of the late Samuel Frank Dill Sr. and Sarah Bell Dill.

He is survived by his wife, of 46 years, Lou Dickinson Dill; two sisters, Ada Lee Marslender and her husband, Robert, and Nancy Castelloe and her husband, Michael, all of Chesapeake; an aunt, Carolina Davis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, by the Rev. Elwood Pack and the Rev. Bob Hawkins. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
