Eleanor Smoot Sutphin Eichelberger, 80, of the 6000 block of Prince Ave., died Aug. 14, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mrs. Eichelberger was born in Radford, Va. She had retired from J.C. Penney, Military Circle, Norfolk, as a clerk. She was the widow of Hugh C. Eichelberger and was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Railroad Retirees of Tidewater. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Minnie Estelle Sutphin of Radford; two sisters, Mary Theresa Tilley and Virginia Smoot, both of Radford; a brother, Willie T. Smoot of Radford; and two grandchildren, Theresa L. Sutphin and Norman A. Sutphin Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Stark of Lynchburg, Va.; two sons, Norman A. Sutphin of Norfolk and Barry L. Sutphin of Wheeling, W.Va.; a sister, Ethel S. Atkinson of Radford; a brother, Howard L. Smoot of Radford; six grandchildren, Tammy Harmon, Bill Stark Jr., Carol Sue Crockett, Debbie Crockett, Barbara Sutphin and Barry Sutphin Jr.; and a great-grandson, Timothy Stark.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Virginia Heights Baptist Church by the Rev. George Boyd. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at Kellum Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, Kempsville Chapel, Pleasant Hall, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
