Secret Service agents last weekend seized $3,000 in counterfeit bills, $10,000 in genuine money and a rental car after Virginia Beach police detained two adults and two juveniles from New York City.
Agent-in-charge Lawrence V. Kumjian said Monday that nobody had been charged, but that the investigation is continuing.
Kumjian said merchants notified the police Saturday that bogus bills were being passed. Police moved quickly and detained the four people before calling in the Secret Service.
Kumjian said about 14 counterfeit bills were passed.
