A 17-year-old youth who was shot and killed Sunday night has been identified by police as Laron Gist of the 3800 block of Augustine Circle.
Gist and a relative were walking in the 1100 block of County St. about 10:15 p.m. Sunday when they approached a man. They recognized him as someone with whom they had an earlier confrontation, police said.
The man pulled a gun and fired several times at Gist, who was pronounced dead a short time later. The suspect is believed to be a 21-year-old Portsmouth man, but no arrest has been made, police said.
