MILDRED V. GRIMSTEAD

Mildred Victoria Grimstead, of the 600 block of Congress St., died Aug. 13, 1994, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Grimstead was born in Princess Anne County. She had retired from the Virginia Beach School System after 24 years. She had been retired for three years. She was the widow of William E. Grimstead and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. She was a member of the Deaconess Board and the Combined Choirs. She was also a member of Siloam Order of Tents 106. She was predeceased by her parents, Ethiel Hodnett Etheridge and Alonzo Etheridge Sr.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Grimstead of Virginia Beach; four sons, William E. Grimstead Jr. and Wardell Grimstead, both of Virginia Beach, Ervin E. Grimstead of Norfolk and Valentino Grimstead of Portsmouth; four sisters, Golethia Woodhouse, Mary L. Joyner, Inez Moody and Elizabeth Ziegler, all of Virginia Beach; four brothers, Isaiah Etheridge, William Etheridge and Iccillia Etheridge, all of Virginia Beach, and Alonzo Etheridge Jr. of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in New Hope Baptist Church, 395 Old Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. E. Ray Cox Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Hale Funeral Home, 2100 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, is handling arrangements. The family will assemble at 653 Congress St., Virginia Beach, at 11:50 a.m. for the processional to the church.
