MINERVA E. HESS

Minerva E. Hess, 88, died Aug. 16, 1994, in Chesapeake.

Mrs. Hess was born in Sunbury, N.C., and was the widow of Charles H. Hess. She was retired as the buyer for Helena Rubenstein Cosmetics at Rices Department Stores and was also a licensed practical nurse. She was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church, sang in the Choir for many years and was a member of the Phebian Class. She was also a member of Berkley Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Hess Woodward of Chesapeake; a brother, John M. Beamon of Forrest Heights, Md.; three grandsons, Charles J. Woodward, Mark H. Woodward and William R. Woodward, all of Chesapeake; granddaughter-in-law, Sherry Woodward of Chesapeake; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Henry Woodward and Sarah Ann Woodward, both of Chesapeake.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters.
