Weldon Windfield Ballard, 84, of the 1300 block of Canal Drive, died Aug. 15, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Ballard was born in Charleston, W.Va. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 26, after 20 years of service and was a grower of day lilies and irises. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and the Iris and Day Lilies Society.
Survivors include his wife, Viola McMillian Ballard; two sisters, Viola Thumm and Laveda Winkler, both of West Virginia; and two brothers, Hulet Ballard of Florida and Price T. Ballard of West Virginia.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Temple Baptist Church by the Rev. Allen L. Dooley. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the building fund of Temple Baptist Church.
