PURCHASING ANYTHING EXCEPT HEALTH INSURANCE

The debate over health care goes beyond the question of fairness to the question of priorities.

My employer offers a health-insurance plan to part- and full-time employees for $11 per week. Yet not one of the employees at my site has applied for the coverage. They look at $11 per week as unafford-able while paying $8 per week for cable TV and going to concerts that can cost upward of $20 a pop. It seems that no one, including our government, wants to practice fiscal restraint as long as the ``other'' guy will pay the bill.

I'm tired of being that ``other guy.'' I believe that the November elections will prove that I am not alone.
