National Homeless Animals' Day will be observed from noon to 6 p.m. today at Mount Trashmore with a host of activities designed to bring attention to the area's pet-population problem.
The third annual event is sponsored by Tidewater Humane in cooperation with several cities and private animal shelters.
Games, exhibits, entertainment and demonstrations all are part of the family fun that organizers hope will help them deliver a serious message to pet owners about having their animals spayed or neutered. A rabies-vaccination clinic for dogs also will be featured.
The event will conclude with a candlelight vigil for homeless animals from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. by CNB
