Mr. Melvin Arthur Mizelle, age 82, of Windsor, N.C., died Thursday following an extended illness.
A native of Bertie County, born January 24, 1912, Mr. Mizelle was the son of the late Arthur G. and Mrs. Sallie White Mizelle. He was a retired farmer and builder, a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church at Askewville, and a member of Charity Masonic Lodge (NU)5, Windsor.
Surviving are five sons; Horace R. and Merritt L. Mizelle, both of Chesapeake, Va., Melvin S. and Seth Erwin Mizelle, both of Virginia Beach, Va., and Robert L. Mizelle Sr. of Windsor, one daughter; Janet M. Bunch of Wendell, one brother; the Rev. Willie Mizelle of Ringgold, Va. and one sister; Mildred M. O'Neal of Ocracoke. Eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Bethel Assembly of God Church at Askewville with the Rev. R.O. Denton, the Rev. Freddie Harris and the Rev. Willie Mizelle officiating. Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery. The family requests that contributions be made to the Roanoke Chowan Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, NC 27910. Walker Funeral Home of Windsor in charge of arrangements.
