Mary Hollowell Evans, 96, of Rt. 1, died Friday, Aug. 19, 1994, in Chowan Hospital, Edenton.
Mrs. Evans was born in Chowan County. She was the daughter of the late Baker Melvin and Mrs. Annie Byrum Hollowell and the widow of Thomas Lindsey Evans. She was a homemaker and a member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church.
Surviving is one son, Melvin H. Evans of Tyner; one sister, Mrs. Minnie H. Bateman of Elizabeth City; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Green, Rev. Lamar Sentell, and Rev. Ralph Knight. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge of arrangements.
