An 18-year-old man sought by police in the shooting of a 5-year-old boy and two other people surrendered to police Sunday.
Kevin D. Canady, 18, of the 900 block of 17th St., is charged with two counts of maiming and two counts of use of a firearm while committing a felony.
Another suspect, David Edward Hitchcock, surrendered Friday and faces the same charges. Both are being held in the Newport News City Jail without bail.
A police spokesman said Canady turned himself in at police headquarters about 2:50 p.m.
No additional arrests are anticipated, police said, although the investigation is continuing.
The boy, Andre Grady, was listed in serious condition Sunday at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk. Also wounded was William Askins, 20.
Witnesses told police that Andre was visiting his grandmother, Margaret Horne, for the summer. He was riding his bike outside her home at 3:50 p.m. in the 900 block of 20th St. when a car pulled up and a person inside started shooting.
The car drove off, and police believe its occupants were involved in another shooting in which Malcholm Vega, 32, was wounded.
