FREDERIC C. FUNNELL

Frederic C. Funnell, 79, of the 2000 block of Tuckahoe Court, a retired professional engineer, died Aug. 21, 1994, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Mr. Funnell was born in Providence, R.I., and was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was a member of Foundry United Methodist Church. Mr. Funnell was retired from the Public Utilities of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was a pioneer in water and pollution control, receiving national recognition with the William D. Hatfield Award and the Arthur S. Bedell Award. He was past president of the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association.

Survivors include his wife, Helen M. Funnell; a daughter, Nancy Wileman of Stafford, Va.; two sons, Richard A. Funnell of Richmond and James E. Funnell of Argyle, Texas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

All services will be private. Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Fund.
