Herbert Clifton ``Bobby'' Manry Jr., 78, of Linden St., died Aug. 22, 1994, at his home.
Mr. Manry was born in Norfolk and was the son of the late Herbert C. and Nina Herbert Manry. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 8th Army in North Africa. He attended Augusta Military Academy and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was retired as supervisor of maintenance for Southampton County Public Schools. He was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Breaux Manry; two daughters, Eleanor M. Henson and Carol M. Pope, both of Courtland; a son, Dr. Herbert C. Manry III of Danville; a sister, Estelle M. Wood of Virginia Beach; and eight grandchildren, Heather Henson, Charles Manry, Rebecca Manry, Amanda Manry, Katelyn Manry, John Pope, Michelle Pope and Will Pope.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahone-Manry family cemetery on Linden St. with the Rev. Larry Cribb officiating. Friends may join the family at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Courtland Rescue Squad or Courtland Volunteer Fire Department.
