GORE PLANS VA. VISIT TO CAMPAIGN FOR ROBB

Vice President Al Gore will be in Virginia Sept. 30 to campaign for Sen. Charles S. Robb and Rep. L.F. Payne, D-5th District, campaign officials for the two candidates said Monday.

Gore will attend an afternoon event at the University of Virginia and a $100-a-person fund-raiser at Panorama Farm in Albemarle County, said Meredith Richards, a fund-raiser for Payne.

He will appear in Roanoke for a rally and fund-raiser for Robb, Robb campaign staffers said.

On Sunday, Robb had tried to downplay his ties to the Clinton administration, declaring in Richmond, ``I'm not going to wrap myself in anybody else's garments.''
