WOMAN DIES OF INJURIES

A woman who police say was thrown from a speeding car on Interstate 464 early Sunday died Monday of massive head injuries.

Gloria Jean Wilson, 27, of Portsmouth was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after state police were notified that the woman was lying beside the highway.

Witnesses told police that the woman was thrown from the front passenger seat of an early 1990s or late 1980s red Nissan about 2 a.m. Sunday.

``Her head injuries may or may not have been sustained when she was thrown out of the car,'' police spokeswoman Tammy Van Dame said.
