Stella Johnson Ainsley, 87, of the 2300 block of Battery Park Road, a retired teacher, died Aug. 23, 1994, in her residence.
Mrs. Ainsley was born in Mooresville, N.C., and was the widow of Leamon L. Ainsley. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Chesapeake Retired Teachers Association and Deep Creek Senior Citizens. She was a past teacher of the Ludie Williamson Sunday School Class, a former member of the church Administrative Board and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary A. Disharoon and a son, L. Douglas Ainsley, both of Chesapeake; three sisters, Eunice J. White of Statesville, N.C., Faye J. Bonds of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Helen J. Shive of Kannapolis, N.C.; a brother, Brandon O. Johnson of Marietta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Mark Disharoon of Moyock, N.C., Theresa McGallicher of the U.S. Embassy in Nicaragua, Dona Ainsley McCullers of Fort Myers, Fla., and Carie D. Carley of Chesapeake; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, by the Rev. W. Roberts McIvor. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, the Salvation Army or Union Gospel Mission.
