Esther M. Johnson of the first block of Pennock St., died Aug. 23, 1994, in the Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
Mrs. Johnson was born in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and was a member of New Mount Thomas Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and the Senior Choir, and was president of the Birthday Club.
Survivors include her husband, Jacobus J. Johnson; a sister, Flossie Jenkins of DeFuniak Springs; a niece, Katura Calhoun of Detroit; and a nephew, Charlie Jenkins Jr. of Chicago.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in New St. Thomas Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Theodore Myrick Jr. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Viewing will begin at Corprew Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
