Starting Monday, applicants will have to pay an additional $24 for a concealed-weapon or gun-purchase permit, city police said Wednesday.
The increase will be added to the current $15 fee, bringing the total to $39. Police said the full amount must be paid by money order or certified check made out to the Virginia State Police, before any paperwork can be processed.
The additional charge will offset the cost of running state and federal criminal-history checks.
