NRA STANDS FAST - FOR WHOM?

The NRA continues its radical no-compromise position on gun control; therefore, I have not renewed my membership.

Its modern computer system keeps me informed as to details of any pending legislation regarding guns, including phone numbers and names of members of Congress to call in an effort to influence their vote, i.e., the NRA way is the only way.

Prior to each election, I receive a list of candidates and their voting record, telling me how to vote. No matter that my congressman has voted many times on matters that have been good for the country, one vote contrary to the NRA position is sufficient to try to prevent his election.

Although the NRA computer is generous in its advice to how its members should vote, I have yet to see a questionnaire or poll to get my sentiment on pending gun issues. It is my opinion that the NRA doesn't reflect the view of a majority of its members with its hard-line approach to gun control.

I have been a member of two hunt clubs for many years; never have I seen an assault weapon or any need for one.

It is a disgrace that members of Congress don't have the guts to stand up to the NRA. Before the next election, the voting record of Mr. Pickett and others will be scrutinized.
