NEWMAN F. REGISTER SR.

Newman F. Register Sr., 79, of the 200 block of Bob White St., died Aug. 25, 1994, in his residence.

Mr. Register was a native of Midville, Ga. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a machinist and was also retired from Hagwood Dry Cleaners as a cashier. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Portsmouth.

Survivors include his wife, Mary B. Register; two daughters, Beth Pittman and Sallie Baker, both of Portsmouth; two sons, Pete Register Jr. of Portsmouth and Ray Register of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. William Kube and entombment will be in the Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
