George Winston Meekins, 77, of Point Harbor, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 1994, in an Elizabeth City hospital.
Mr. Meekins, a native of Avon, was a retired salesman for Manteo Furniture. He was a lifelong member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Avon and most recently attended Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Moody A. and Missouri Gray Meekins and the husband of Edith Meekins Meekins of the home.
Besides his wife, Mr. Meekins is survived by two stepdaughters, Joan Williams of Chesapeake and Kathy Williams of Avon; two brothers, Reginald Meekins of Avon and Moody Meekins of Jacksonville, Fla.; and five stepgrandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church by the Rev. Brad Bradshaw and the Rev. Herbert Hemmingway. Burial will follow in the Austin Cemetery, Kitty Hawk. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Methodist Home for Children, P.O. Box 10917, Raleigh, N.C. 27690-0590.
