GERALD M. DEWIT SR.

Gerald ``Jerry'' Michael DeWit Sr., 59, of Pomroy Ave., a civil service electronics mechanic, died Aug. 25, 1994, in his home.

Mr. DeWit was born in Charleston, S.C., and was employed at the Public Works Department. He was affiliated with Christ the King Catholic Church and was a member of St. Andrew Masonic Lodge (NU)282 in Edinburgh, Scotland, and Tidewater Streeters. He was a former reservist with the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine C. DeWit; four daughters, Robin D. Beck of Chesapeake, Virginia A. Sivak and Susan L. DeWit, both of Alexandria, Va., and Penny A. Mabalot of Norfolk; a son, Gerald M. DeWit Jr. of Norfolk; his father, Nicholas DeWit of Norfolk; and three grandchildren, Patrick M. DeWit and Rebecca M. Mabalot, both of Norfolk, and Andrew M. Sivak of Alexandria.

A funeral will be at noon Saturday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. A Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home, where visitation will follow until 8 p.m. The family will also receive friends prior to the service Saturday.
