Shirley Goodyear Smith, 58, of the 200 block of Benson Lane, died Aug. 24, 1994, in Bethesda, Md.
She was born in Pinehurst, Mass., and was a member of Parkway Temple, Chesapeake. Shirley was active in the Women's Ministry at Parkway Temple. She served in both Chandelle and Deborah Circles and was chosen vice president of the Women's Council.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil Ray Smith; two daughters, Diana Davis of McDowell, Va., and Sonya Lawson of Virginia Beach; two sons, Marty Smith of Chesapeake and David Smith of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Barbara Beal of Yorba Linda, Calif., Edna Olson of Orange, Calif., and Dorothy Sampson of Yucca Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Parkway Temple by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. The family requests donations for the church building fund in lieu of flowers.
