Emmett M. Cuthrell, 81, of the 700 block of Rosewell Ave., a retired electrician, passed away at the home of his son in Gates, N.C., on Aug. 24, 1994.
Mr. Cuthrell was born in Belhaven, N.C., and was the widower of Mary Brooks Cuthrell. He retired from civil service at NOB in 1966 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Virginia Beach Freewill Baptist Church and attended Reynoldson Baptist Church in Gates.
Survivors include a son, Wayne M. Cuthrell of Gates, N.C.; two sisters, Laney Gentry of Wades Point, N.C. and Agnes Tucker of Saline, Calif.; a brother, Leland Cuthrell of Chesapeake; a granddaughter, Helen E. Cuthrell of Chesapeake; and two great-grandchildren, Tiffany H. Ellis and Summer L. Ellis, both of Chesapeake.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Rick Durham. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
